Our Policy On Emergency School Closure
In very exceptional circumstances it may become necessary to close the school. Such a decision is never taken lightly and we make every effort to keep the school functioning as usual.

Parents are informed of closure as soon as practicable. In the event of extreme winter conditions, an assessment of the situation is made early in the morning and takes into account conditions around the school as well as the safety of staff who have to travel in to school. We make this decision as soon as possible but between 7:00 and 7:30 by the latest.

You will be able to find out if the school has had to close in one of the following ways:
  • Essex County Council  'Emergency School Closure' Page. This has details of all reported school closures in the county;
  • The school website. As long as we can access internet services we will post a message on the school website;
  • Text or e-mail sent to parents. If we have access to internet services we will either text or e-mail a message as soon as possible.

If it snows and we are able to make it in, it might be a good idea to bring wellies and waterproofs in case we are able to go out and play in it.
