India Week

Science Day

We had great fun learning about India. The project was initiated by our school council who said children wanted to learn about another country and culture in a bit more depth. It was supported by our parent teacher association (FoLS) who funded dancing and drumming workshops to help us celebrate the festival of Pongal (rice harvest).
We love science! We had a science day where we learned about heat, sound and slime (which we now know is actually a polymer).

Maths Enrichment

We spent a day exploring maths puzzles and problems with an NRICH workshop.

Den Day

Raising money for Save the Children and creating some fantastic dens.

Our Curriculum
The Langham Curriculum has been designed to engage children’s curiosity and promote resilience and independence in learning. We do this every day in every lesson by ensuring children are expected to explore, question and apply key concepts in interesting ways.

Children gain the essential skills and knowledge they need through activities and experiences that are fun, memorable and exciting. This means that sometimes children work on projects which encompass a number of national curriculum subjects and sometimes work on blocks of specific subject content. We plan for our delivery of the curriculum in a two year rolling programme which helps to ensure an effective balance between subjects and depth in essential skills.

We want our curriculum to be as vibrant as possible so we make sure that we plan for visits and visitors to enrich and extend children’s experience; provide opportunities for children to showcase their achievements and look for ways we can root their learning in the real world.

The documents below provide you with an overview of our curriculum in each academic subject  for the whole school. They also indicate where we use published resources to support our curriculum.

Our Values

We are respectful
This is about having good manners and treating everybody with respect. We try and understand each other. We are a diverse community and are proud to be part of it. respect is something we all deserve.

We are team players
Being a team player is important to us. we can do amazing things when we work together.

We persevere.
We know it gets tough sometimes. we encourage each other to persevere and are determined to do our very best.

We are kind
Small acts of kindness make our school a great place to be. Big acts of kindness can change the world and improve lives for everyone.

We are courageous
Sometimes we have to be brave. It is important to stand up for what you believe and be heard. It is important to try new things and face your fears.

We create opportunities to promote positive values essential for being a responsible citizen in modern day Britain through:
  • Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE) is an important part of the timetable and issues about safety, equality and responsibility are regularly explored.
  • Through the school council, children get to learn about t democracy in action. This year we borrowed polling booths and ballot boxes and ran our elections exactly like the real thing.
  • We find opportunities for children experience cultural traditions first hand. This year children in Year 5 and 6 took part in a professional opera production.
  • Children make regular contributions to the local community, local and national charities. Recent examples include the Shoebox appeal at Christmas and a bake sale for McMillan.
  • Children learn about the challenges facing the world. Our high profile Eco Team promotes responsible attitude to the environment and respect for the earth’s resources.
  • Assemblies planned, cover a range of topics and promote our values.
