Learning at Home

Please remember that the more reading you can do with your child, or the more you can encourage your child to read independently, the better. Our aim is for your child to read at least 4 times a week and record this in their Reading Record. Your child may read ANYTHING as long as it interests them – books, magazines, newspapers etc.
Feel free to pop in and see me if you would like any guidance or resources to help with this aspect of your child’s learning.
Children in Class 4 will receive their homework tasks on a Friday afternoon, with a hand-in day of the following Wednesday. Sometimes the children will be able to complete this work independently, and on other occasions they may need some support from home. Please feel free to comment in their homework books to let me know how they got on with the tasks.
Your child will also be using their Spelling Log Books to learn words. They will also receive mental maths facts to learn. These will be given on Mondays and your child will be able to show what they have learnt on Friday.

Class 4 Timetable
We continue to explore a wide range of opportunities in PE this term, and the children of Class 4 will be taking part in a programme of squash teaching. Squash will be on a Tuesday afternoon and they will be developing their football skills on Friday afternoons. Please ensure that their PE kit is in school for these sessions.
Support from Home
If you have any expertise in the topics being taught this term and would like to come in and talk to the children about it then please let us know. Also, if you are able to offer your time on a weekly basis to hear children read or practise their number skills then please come and see the class teacher to talk about it further.
Parental support is always gratefully received.
