On the 3rd April, we had a music assembly to celebrate all the hard work and practice children (and staff) have been putting in at home in order to play an instrument. We had piano, violin, clarinet and singing performances. Everyone was very nervous to begin with, but the audience soon put them at ease. After the assembly everyone was very proud of their performance!
Class 3 had 10 weeks of Ukulele lessons with the fantastic Mr Abbott. They performed all the songs they had learnt to the rest of the school and parents in Merit Assembly. Everyone was very proud of Class 3.
Working in partnership with the Pimlott Foundation, children in Years 3 and 4 were lucky enough to listen to a professional cellist play various styles of music. They were encouraged to respond to the mood and tempo of what they heard in drawing and painting. On Fridays, some children go out to learn how to play in their Rocksteady band. At the end of each term, all the bands perform to the rest of the school and the parents.
Class 3 and 4 practiced singing Christmas Carols together with a pianist called Emma Bishton. They performed their songs to parents in the Church accompanied by the organ. The singing was brilliant and we were left feeling very festive afterwards! Watch the video to hear us in rehearsal.
