The whole school took part in an assembly to introduce the Take One Picture competition. This year, we are looking at the picture 'Men of the Docks' by George Bellows. Class 3 went back to class after the assembly to mind map ideas linked to the picture before creating an initial response.
Working in partnership with the Pimlott Foundation, children in Years 3 and 4 were lucky enough to listen to a professional cellist play various styles of music. They were encouraged to respond to the mood and tempo of what they heard in drawing and painting. For the Christmas Bazar this year, Class 3 decided to screen print some bags to sell. They were a great success and Class 3 are hoping to make them again next year!
Class 3 and 4 practiced singing Christmas Carols together with a pianist called Emma Bishton. They performed their songs to parents in the Church accompanied by the organ. The singing was brilliant and we were left feeling very festive afterwards! Watch the video to hear us in rehearsal.
The whole school has the opportunity to create some cyanotypes this year to show each season. We are making our Cyanotypes with a local artist called Angenita and they are created by exposing chemicals to light and we are using resources from the outdoors to create ours. Class 3's season was Autumn so they took a trip down to Hornstreetfield to collect their materials before creating their prints.
Class 3's science topic for the Autumn term was light. In art, they learnt about photography and the study of light in relation to art. They took their own photos using the tablets and practiced shading in their drawings. Their artwork is currently on display in school!
